fabric wreath

This week I'm sharing different projects I'm making for Hannah's graduation party.  I just can't believe she is graduating.  I've made a big effort to be brave about it.  She is so excited to go off to college.  This wreath is going to go on our door for her graduation party.  Maybe she will even put it in her dorm room.  I used scraps from her graduation quilt to make it.

I started with this chipboard wreath and letters... all really inexpensive at Michael's.  I painted them with Martha Stewart craft paint... mixing pink and red together.

Next, I cut up strips of fabric left over from Hannah's quilt and started tying them on.  I added some ribbon and ricrac too.

I threw in a little baker's twine for good measure.  This project would be so cute in different color combinations.

I wanted to add the graduate's initials to the wreath.  I used chipboard letters from Michael's... first I painted them pink.  I traced them onto scrapbook paper and cut them out.

I applied the paper to the letters with mod podge...

and glued them onto the wreath with my hot glue gun!

It will be the perfect way to greet guests at Hannah's party!

  1. Really like this. Anything you can make with torn fabric is fine with me. I may try a smaller one and see if I can use some of the quilt top from an absolutly wonderful old torn up quilt someone let me have for NOTHING! Did I say I can't bear to see anything thrown away!!!

I'd love for u to stop by my blog and take a look. I do some "faux-vintage" (my version of vintage items I like using modern materials or vintage if I can find them cheap enough!!!).

The link below is for "faux-vintage" mini hat pins. Not really ready to shell out for REAL ones. And too this way I can make and give them to my family and friends!!!
