Easter tray

I don't know why, but I've accumulated a lot of old trays around my house.  For today's project I'm making one over.  This one started out as a plain brown wicker tray.  I started by spray painting it turquoise.

Next, I cut up a bunch of cute scrapbook paper.  I especially like the vintage bunny paper from reminisce http://designsbyreminisce.com/

After I laid the paper pieces out I covered them with mod podge.

While I was waiting for the tray to dry I decided to make a little banner with the leftover scraps.  I used plain white cards and cut them about a 1/2 above the fold.   Then I folded on the fold and ran baker's twine through the back using a little glue to tack it down.

Finished!  These little garlands would be perfect little surprises in the mail.  xoxo  Jenni

  1. Jenni, You do the greatest crafts! Love the banner and tray. Can't way to see the tray all finished. Do you use matte or gloss Mod Podge? Have a great crafty day!

  2. I can picture what the tray looked like before and can't believe how spray painting it can give it such a completely different look! You inspired me to spray paint an old wine holder that was a shiny brass, but also had some 'pock' marks from age and use. I dragged it out of the basement, spray painted it a nickel color and VOILA!! It's now an adorable, matching magazine holder in our guest bath!! AND I also couldn't find a silver-ish frame to re-frame a picture I had in another bathroom (it's very big)....so, again, got out the ol' nickel spray paint and just painted the one I had! Believe it or not, I would not have thought of these simple things on my own! Thanks!! :)
