color inspiration Monday

Hi everyone... this week's color is green!

A dear friend is having a big birthday this week, and we are decorating with lime and black.  You'll see lots more of this later this week...

The shawl is knit with beautiful Three Irish Girls yarn.  I got the fabric up north.  I love the 2 together.  They remind me of my sheets when I was a little girl.

I bought a bunch of the daisy and wheat dishes at the Goodwill a couple years ago.  My best friends mother used to buy them at the grocery store.  She gave hers away to the thrift store (I probably bought them!)  The green pressed glass used to come in oatmeal containers.

More old green stuff... I love it with yellow.

Come back tomorrow for some fun paper crafts!

Thrifty Thursday

I've found lots of fun thrifty finds this week in Northern Minnesota... I'll share them with you next week.  Today I'm going to show you a new collage that I made for my "office" (mudroom).  I took apart an old frame I had that had a faded poster in it.  I used the foam core in the frame as a base and made a collage of.... umbrellas!
I used color copied vintage images that I have collected, mixing them with October Afternoon paper.

When I was done, I popped it right back into the frame I started with.  Quick and thrifty!  Check out the umbrella canisters I found at the thrift store last week.

Let's get organized!

I have sooo many little scrippy scraps of vintage paper, game pieces, cards, etc.  Isabelle and I just did a project to organize all of them.  We took the old tin file box I repurposed and filled it with file folders.  We trimmed the folders with paper from October afternoon...

now all those little paper pieces are organized in one cute box!

color inspiration Monday

This week's color inspiration is turquoise!  I use turquoise so much it is almost a neutral.  It looks great with so many colors!

Fabulous turquoise yarn and a favorite little stool that I got at Homegoods.
Cute dishes on an old turquoise tablecloth...

Some of my very favorite pieces of jewlery...
October Afternoon paper and buttons, felt and ribbons.
Last of all, my favorite find, vintage turquoise alphabet letters... love them!  Have a wonderful day everyone!

fun with felt!

Yesterday I got to spend the afternoon scrapbooking with my dearest friends.  What is more fun than that?!

I finished one page and then spent the rest of the time cutting out felt letters and shapes with my die cut machine.  It is so addicting...

Then I really started to have some fun...
 and last of all...
That's where I'll be this week... but check back... I will still do some posts!  xoxo  Jenni

cute little gift bag

Today I have a quick and easy idea for you... reusing a white bag.  Anthropologie does everything so amazingly well, including their beautiful packaging.  I have been collecting these Natalie Lete plates for a couple years and when I spotted a new one last week, I had to have it.  In my favorite colors too!

I needed a little gift bag for a thank you present I was going to give.  I took the anthropologie bag...

and covered it with darling paper scraps.  I even had some left over for a little card.  I'm so green!
Before I go, I just have to say it... I really do love my readers!  Thanks to you I have had almost 2000 views in my first month.  Thank you so much...xoxoxo  Jenni

Thrifty Thursday

Good morning everyone!  I am up at an unusually early 6:30 a.m. off to CRAZYYYYYY DAYS in Excelsior, MN.  It's going to be a really thrifty Thursday.  But first let's see what I found at the thrift store this week...
This tray was $1 and a no brainer.  Couldn't pass up a few more vintage drink umbrellas at the antique store.
Vintage game cards and an alphabet book with some pages missing... but just look at the Y page!
Last of all... more red scrabble pieces and a cute old spinner...

mustache party part 2

This is my nephew Mason... he looks like a little villian doesn't he?  He is modeling a mustache from the party store that cost a quarter.  They work as unibrows too.  ha!

Here are the supplies I pulled together for the invitations.  I found the graphics online.
They were done in a jiffy... ready to be handed out next week at Maddens!
My last mustache picture, I promise... my adorable niece Sophia.

mustache party!

We have a big family vacation coming up.  The last few years we have had a theme party night... this year I thought it would be fun to have a mustache party!

I had to make mustaches for the guests... first I scoured the internet for some ideas.  I drew out a few different mustache shapes...

Next I cut them out of black stiffened felt.  For each mustache you need 2 of the same shape, and a dowel.  Cover 1 side in glue, add the dowel and put on the top... easy!
The results are amusing...  Come back tomorrow and I will show you the invitations and party favor bags!  xoxo  Jenni

spaghetti for lunch

Our family loves soccer!  Of course we planned to watch the women's world cup yesterday.  We had even invited friends over to watch it with us and have lunch.  I overslept... and had 2 hours til the company came.  I decided to make an old favorite... spaghetti.
This is one of the first things I learned to make when I got married.  It is so easy...

Jenni's Spaghetti recipe:
3 cans crushed tomatoes
shhhhh.... one jar ragu
1 can tomato paste
1 tbs sugar
i cup water
one onion, chopped and cooked til soft.
4 cloves garlic
Whatever herbs you like... I add lots of fresh
basil and parsley.

I don't add meat, I just buy a bag of Italian Meatballs and bake them.  It is soooo good and gets rave reviews every time.  While the spaghetti cooked I had some work to do to get ready for company.
Apron on, check...  (notice it is inside out)
party shoes on, check!
Set the table...
frost the cupcakes....
and we are ready for company!
