bubble painting and shaving cream cupcakes

Today, I have 2 messy projects for your kids to do outside!  First, bubble painting!
You are going to use regular old bubbles with food coloring added.  Blow them over your watercolor paper and let them pop.

When the paint dries, it fades considerably, but it's lots of fun to do.

Next, shaving cream cupcakes.  You will need shaving cream, muffin tins, waterbeads and birthday candles.

Add some shaving cream to the cupcake liners.  Let your kids decorate them with waterbead "sprinkles" and birthday candles.

Before you know it, the cupcakes will look like this... oh well!  Needless to say, my preschoolers absolutely loved this activity.

3 little pigs

Since we were at the state fair this week, I have piggies on my mind.  Preschoolers never tire of the story of the 3 little pigs.  I have a flannel board version and I told it at least once a week.  To make your pigs, you will need to cut out pink circles.  This is the body and the head.

Now add another smaller circle and sharpie nose and eyes.

It's ears are triangles...

and it's tail is a curled up pink pipe cleaner.

Last year my preschoolers made a similar project and I made ornaments inspired by their artwork!

another red barn

I was at the state fair yesterday.  Let's just say it was "interesting".  It was also incredibly hot.  I did get to try mini doughnut beer... it was delicious.  http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2013/08/16/mini-donut-beer-arrives-in-time-for-state-fair/  And yes, it really did taste like a mini doughnut.  Today is my first day with my little 3 year old preschoolers.  It is going to be a busy one!  Yesterday, I shared a mod podged barn, today I have a cute paper barn project.
In Minnesota, there are barns everywhere.  I just love them.    Some of the barns in our county have quilts painted on them...

Today we are going to make a construction paper barn with a few basic shapes.

I used yellow mesh for straw, but you could use yarn or strips of paper too.

Every barn needs a rooster!

Have you seen this cute farm sorting center from Lakeshore?  It comes with red, green and purple farm animals... waiting to be sorted into categories.   You can find it here... http://www.lakeshorelearning.com/

little red barn

It's Monday Funday!  My last one of the summer.  I will be at the Minnesota State Fair this morning at 9:35 doing farm crafts.  I know I have 2 cute little helpers that will be there... I will let you know how it went tomorrow.
One of the projects I will be sharing today is this little barn.  I got it at Michael's thinking it would be fun to use with my preschoolers.

I spray painted it red...

rounded up a bunch of my kid's old animals... I bought a few at Fleet Farm too.

Next I found some scrapbook paper to decoupage on the barn.  Most of these papers are from October Afternoon... http://www.octoberafternoon.com/index.php

I used my paper cutter and started fitting the papers on the barn.

Here is the finished product... I used it on the table for my friend's birthday dinner.  Come back tomorrow for another barn project.

Five for Friday

Happy Friday everyone!  I'm linked up here today... http://doodlebugsteaching.blogspot.com/  Did you see my back to school segment on Fox 9 Monday morning? Check it out here... http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/story/23172409/back-to-school-crafts  I will be on fox 9 next Monday at the state fair!  We will be doing farm crafts.  One of my projects is this adorable mod podged barn...

I have been at school every day this week working on my room.  Once the 3 year olds arrive on Tuesday it is impossible to get anything done.
I made this back to school bouquet for our office at school.  I'm going to make another one for open house night next week.  It is made with a large mason jar and Lakeshore magnets.  Simple and colorful!

These mod podged letters were made for my preschool classroom.

I made these sock monkey tags for my preschoolers lockers.  Tomorrow I'm making sock monkey name tags.

My favorite bulletin board this year... I used strips of plastic tablecloths to make the ruffled rainbow.   Have a wonderful weekend!
