Peeps centerpieces

I had a wonderful surprise yesterday morning... a snow day!  We got a bunch of snow in Minnesota, not unusual for March.  It was a perfect day for baking and cooking, and of course, doing a little crafting.  Speaking of crafting, I will be on fox 9 this Saturday morning at 7:45 a.m.  If you live in the twin cities, I hope you will tune in.  If you are looking for more Peeps ideas, check out my pinterest board here... http://pinterest.com/jenni_swenson1/peeps/
Peeps make such cute Easter centerpieces.  All you need is a large and small glass container.  I used a mason jar inside of an old trifle bowl that I already had.  I poured in some starburst jelly beans (love the colors)...

Layered peeps on top...
Did I mention that the Mall of America Peeps store was nice enough to give me 2 bags full of peeps for these projects?!  What a cute store!  They informed me that they have the freshest candy you can get... I tried some amazing flavors of Mike and Ikes that I never knew existed.

That's It!  You can fill the mason jar with any kind of flowers you like.  I'm partial to tulips!

The next photos are of my peeps topiary from last year.  I unfortunately never took a picture of the finished product but you will get the idea.  Start with a big styrofoam ball and a bunch of peeps.

I tried styroglue but I switched  to hot glue because it wasn't sticking.

Completely cover the ball with your peeps... it got surprisingly heavy.  I used a paint stirrer to stick into the top of the topiary.  The bottom is a flower pot filled with florist foam.

I will be sharing another version of a peeps topiary next week.  Have you stocked up on your peeps yet?  They are covering my kitchen today.  Wait til you see what's next!!
