green velvet cake

It's St. Patrick's day today... are you looking for a green desert for your family?  Today I'm going to share a green velvet cake recipe with you.  I found it here... http://www.lovefromtheoven.com/2011/03/03/green-velvet-cake-st-pattys-day-baking/
It is a cake recipe from scratch... it takes a little time, but it is worth it!

You will need an entire bottle of green food coloring!  It seems wrong doesn't it?  When you make a red velvet, you use a bottle of red too.  Sometimes I buy the mix and add a package of pudding.

My daughter Olivia made this cake for her friends who just turned 16... they are triplets!

The batter is bright green, but it turns dark green when you bake it.
For the frosting, I used 4 cups powdered sugar, 1tsp almond, a stick of butter, and milk until I got the consistancy that I wanted.  I didn't get to try it, but I was told it was delicious!
