Framing your children's art

Do you have piles of children's artwork laying around?  My daughters are all teenagers, but I saved lots of their precious drawings from when they were little.
I wanted to frame a painting that they all made together... I have saved it for years and finally did something with it.

I bought the frame at Goodwill... it was just plain hideous.  It was $3.99 though, and that fit my budget!
I started by taking the frame apart and painting it a bright red.  Next I covered the mat that came with the frame.  I used an amazing piece of fabric that I bought at http://featheredstarquilt.com/

I laid the mat on the wrong side of the fabric and sprayed the mat with fabric adhesive.  Oh my, I love that stuff.

Cut a hole in the middle, and then a diagonal line to each corner.  Wrap the fabric around the mat, wrapping it tightly.  I adhered it with fabric adhesive.

Voila, a little masterpiece... I will show you the finished project, with the frame later this week.  I will be sharing this project and lots more on fox 9 this Saturday, August 4th at 7:45 a.m.  Hope you will tune in!
